Return of the SoKo
July 15, 2013 08:21 PM PDT
I can't celebrate my birthday without bringing the music… so I'm happy to share some new tunes as a special birthday treat!
The past year has been pretty quiet for SoKo but full of changes and new experiences. I also learned a great deal about music production and technical aspects of mixing music from the DJ/Producer Extensive Program I completed at Dubspot in New York City. You can check out some of my work from this program on my soundcloud page (soundcloud.com/sidtheengineer).
Maybe I'm a nerd, but I really got a kick out of incorporating some of the things I have learned into this mix. I think the end result is more interesting, with better flow and sound quality than my past work, well worth the wait for....

It's been a long time since I put out my last mix set... I'm now living in New York City and it's amazing.
This weekend seems like the perfect time to release my first NYC podcast: BLACK.

Boys and girls, I present to you: drums, drums, and drums. Thank you.SoKo live @ Epic (Mpls Pride 6.24.11)

This is it - my first recorded live set (that I'm willing to post!) - from The Big Gay Pride Party on 6.24.11 at Epic. It's a little rough around a few edges but this set brings such a smile to my face that I couldn't help but share it.
And if you weren't there to see the fur boots I made myself... this is the next best thing.SoKo Pride 2011 CD/Set 1: A Mimosa Mix (AM)
May 13, 2011 11:34 AM PDT
Directions: Play at least once daily throughout Pride weekend. And on any other days that you feel the urge; these cravings are normal.
These beats are slower and smoother, best to be served at a brunch, in the park, or by the pool. Don't forget the mimosa!SoKo Pride 2011 CD/Set 2: A Martini Mix (PM)
May 13, 2011 10:01 AM PDT
Directions: Play at least once nightly throughout Pride weekend. And on any other nights that you feel the urge; these cravings are normal.
These beats are faster, harder, and even more addictive. Best to preheat (with your martini of choice) before serving at a house party, your local dancefloor, or at the afterhours, Most recently I heard everyone raving over at Grandma's House and they shout with excitement how they all want more! *Precaution: If you are prone to motion sickness, now's your chance to get over it.

My first live set done at the Caterpillar Lounge in Minneapolis, Feb 2011. I have not started recording my sets live yet, so these are the tracks I played that night but mixed afterward. My music has been heading in this house/upbeat lounge direction lately although I appreciate and play with many genres of dance music.
Podcast SummaryI guess I should update this huh?
